Trifles - Auditions

  • Aug 20, 2019, 7:00 PM

Your Theatre, Inc. is holding auditions August 20 at 7 P.M. for all roles in the upcoming 2019-2020 Season special attraction production of Trifles by Susan Glaspell. The performances run Oct 3 to 6, 2019. This is a director's workshop, and one part of a two act presentation.

Director Stephanie LeBlanc is casting all roles. Auditions consist of cold readings from the script, and are held in the meeting room at the James Arnold Mansion on County Street in New Bedford. Auditions are open to all actors over the age of 16.

Characters:

Mr. Peters, sheriff: a straightforward man who can be unintentionally condescending, 20s-60s

Mr. Henderson, county attorney: a younger man eager to do his job diligently, 20s-40s

Mr. Hale, neighbor: a pleasant and well-meaning man who can be long-winded, 30s-70s

Mrs. Hale, wife of Mr. Hale: a smart, compassionate and confident woman, 30s-60s

Mrs. Peters, wife of Sheriff Peters: a nervous but intelligent and caring woman, 20s-60s

The play centers around the murder of John Wright. The main suspect of this wicked crime? His wife. As the County Attorney, Sheriff Peters, and neighboring farmer Mr. Hale scour the home for clues, the real detectives turn out to be Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters. What they discover leaves lots of questions and few answers, not just about the murder of John Wright but about justice and equality for women and oppressed people everywhere.

Experience is not necessary; just the desire to participate and share the experience of live theatre and the enjoyment of collaborating with other talented individuals.
