NEW BEDFORD, MA -- Charles Busch’s hit comedy The Tale Of The Allergist’s Wife, the second production of Your Theatre, Inc.’s 60th Season, opens on November 8 for a nine performance run.
Directed by Your Theatre’s Stephen R. Kay of Swansea, the play runs Wednesdays through Saturdays November 8-11 and 15-18, 2006 with a matinee Sunday, November 12. Curtain time is 8:00 p.m. for all shows except the 2:30 p.m. Sunday matinee.
The comedy centers around Marjorie (Lorraine Lucciola of Fall River) who has lost her way in the big bad world. After the death of her therapist, and with no life purpose except caring for her continually constipated mother Frieda (Trudi Miller of New Bedford), Marjorie has withdrawn and is sinking into depression, despite the confused but steadfast support of her husband Ira (Robert Duquette of Swansea) and the Iraqi doorman Mohammed (Robin Richard of New Bedford) - the only person with whom she is able to have a comfortable conversation.
Salvation seemingly offers itself in the sudden re-appearance of Lee (Carol Oliva of Fairhaven), a long-lost, childhood friend, but eventually Lee’s gale-force personality turns the whole family upside down.
