NEW BEDFORD, MA -- Your Theatre, Inc. (Edward J. Maguire of Fairhaven, Artistic Director) has announced the cast and production team for the opening production of the 62nd season. Directed by Lawrence R .Houbre, Jr. of New Bedford with Musical Direction by Bonnie-Jeanne Brault of Fairhaven. Philemon by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones will open on Wednesday, September 17, and run through Saturday, September 27, at The YTI Playhouse (136 Rivet St New Bedford MA. 02744).

The musical takes place in the third-century Roman Empire, where a clown finds himself face to face with a rigid Commander who feels the clown should be sent to his death. But, because the Commander likes him, his life is spared on one condition: that he impersonate a missing Christian leader, Philemon, to enable the Romans to catch and execute more Christians. With no choice, the clown does the Commander's bidding, but in doing so begins to feel for the persecuted. The clown “becomes" Philemon, overflowing with love and the hope for a more humane world, thus earning his redemption and more.

The cast for Philemon features Eddie Camara of Acushnet, Robert Duquette of Somerset, Aaron C. Viera of New Bedford, Eileen Caron of Marion, Kristina Dahlene of Middleboro, Jillian Rapoza of Fairhaven, and Tyler Rowe of Dartmouth.

Philemon has scenic design by Trevor Elliott of New Bedford, costumes by Cheryl Day of Fairhaven and Lois Craveiro of New Bedford, lights by Lawrence R. Houbre, Jr. of New Bedford with Lawrence R. Houbre, III also of New Bedford as Stage Manager.

Ticket and other information about the production is available by calling the YTI box office at 508-993-0772 or e-mailing your request to ytinc@verizon.net.

The theatre is located at 136 Rivet St. (corner of County St.), New Bedford, in the auditorium of St. Martin's Episcopal Church.
