NEW BEDFORD, MA -- Frank McGuinness’s Tony Award Winning adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, a stunning theatre piece and the second major production of Your Theatre, Inc.’s 61st main Season opens November 7 for a nine performance run. Directed by Your Theatre’s Edward J. Maguire of Fairhaven the play runs Wednesdays through Saturdays November 7 - 10 and 14 - 17, 2007, with a matinee Sunday, November 11. Curtain time is 8:00 p.m. for all shows except the 2:30 p.m. Sunday matinee.

Cast in the production are Roger H. Allen, Caroline Cuccia, Eric Paradis, Valerie Reynolds, Sylvia White, Evan Rousseau and Joshua Rousseau of New Bedford; Lee Fortier, Dawn Moquin and Dylan VanDusen of Fairhaven; with Elena Murphy of Wareham as Stage Manager.

The play centers on Nora Helmer a vibrant young housewife who suffers from a crippling dependency on her husband of eight years, Torvald, who does all the thinking for both of them. In order to save him from a debt and to spare his masculine pride, Nora arranges a loan (without his knowledge and by forging a signature). When the crime is inevitably revealed, Torvald's response sets into motion a series of events that call the very validity of their marriage into question, and Nora awakens to a sense of true self-awareness for the first time in her life. And in one of the most famous (and scandalous) climaxes in all of nineteenth century drama, Nora makes a choice that continues to be debated by audiences to this day.

A Doll’s House, winner of the 1997 Tony award for best revival, received an avalanche of rave revues including the following: “.. thunderclap of an evening that takes your breath away.”- Time. " … wonderful adaptation by Frank McGuinness…” - New York Times.
