NEW BEDFORD, MA --- Blood Relations written by Sharon Pollack and directed by Stephen R. Kay of Swansea, a reconstruction of Lizzie Borden’s life as a Victorian spinster, opens on November 12th. The play runs November 12, 13 and 14 and November 18, 19, 20 and 21 at 8:00PM and November 15 and 22 at 3:00PM at the YTI Playhouse, 136 Rivet Street, New Bedford. The cast includes Kristina Dahlene of Middleboro, Katie van der Sleesen and Michael McGill of Tiverton, Elizabeth Chouinard of Dartmouth, Roger H. Allen of New Bedford, Clifford Wood of Assonet and Cynthia J. Messier of Fairhaven. Elena Murphy of Wareham is Stage Manager.
The play-within-a-play structure in which, ten years after her acquittal, Lizzie’s actress friend acts out the crucial scenes lends a fascinating sense of ambiguity to a familiar story.
Lizzie was acquitted, but lingering about her guilt or innocence remained making her a subject of gossip, and serving to isolate her further from her neighbors and sister.
Your Theatre is staging this mystery in concurrence with the The Superior Court 150th anniversary mock retrial: Lizzie Borden:Redux. The Superior Court will continue to stage the Trial in Fall River and Taunton on various dates.
General admission is $14.00 and $15.00. Senior and student discounts available. For information or to make a reservation call the theatre box office at 508-993-0772.This press release is about Blood Relations
