When is Your Theatre moving to the Steeple Playhouse?

That question is asked of me more and more each week.

The simple answer is: I don't know.

The full complicated answer won't fit here, but I will say there is still of lot of work to be done to make the building into a theater.

I am optimistic, though! As the project progresses each week, I cautiously expect YTI to make a soft opening in late July or maybe August, and then present a full grand opening production in September or October.

That is because the timeline does shift unexpectedly. We're waiting for much of the theatrical buildout, including the installation of the lighting truss, the lighting equipment, the lighting cabling, power and control. Sound equipment needs to be wired up. The stage needs to be delivered and set up. Hopefully curtains and drapes will be hung, but we may open without them if they are delayed. Vendor supply lines are still wonky and unpredicatable.

Did I mention we're still waiting for storm windows and blackout curtains, a new gutter and other fascia work and leak repairs, the parking lot to be paved and painted, the custom pavers leading to the front door to be delivered and installed? I'll mention now we still need government inspections, reviews, and certificates. I'm sure you can guess that there are still a million other details to be attended to before we can move in. Well maybe a couple of thousand fewer details by the time you read this.

I'm looking forward to setting a move-in date, as soon as the theater gods reign their influence and blessings upon our soon-to-be new home. I'm also excited to see you sitting next to me, in the audience, at the Steeple Playhouse.
