New Bedford --- Your Theatre, Inc. is holding auditions at 7 P.M. on Monday, March 7 for all roles in the upcoming 2021-2022 Season production of "The Shape Of Things" by Neil Labute. The performances run May 13 to 22, 2022.
Director James Sanguinetti is casting all roles. Auditions consist of cold readings from the script, and are held in the playhouse located in St. Martin's Church/Hall complex, 136 Rivet Street at Country Street, in New Bedford. Auditions are open to all actors age 18 or older.
The play is a contemporary story about art, image and the lengths we will go to for love. The cast has four characters, two male and two female, that become romantically entangled with one another.
ADAM, age 20s to 30s, is a shy, awkward college student who has never had luck with women and gets transformed by Evelyn over the course of the play.
EVELYN, age 20s to 30s, is a free spirited art student who has unconventional views on life and love.
PHILIP, any age, is Adam’s friend and former roommate, who notices the changes in Adam and challenges Adam’s transformation.
JENNY, age 20s to 30s, is Philip’s fiancée. She is a down to earth, simple woman who notices the changes in Adam and starts to question her relationship with Philip.
Rehearsals will be throughout March, April and into May. Rehearsals will begin online, and will then be held in the theater, typically three nights per week after 7 P.M.
Experience is not necessary; just the desire to participate and share the experience of live theatre and the enjoyment of collaborating with other talented individuals.
Your Theatre celebrates diversity and seeks people of all backgrounds regardless of age, race, creed, or national origin. All are welcome! Actors will be required to show proof of vaccination.
